Key West, FL

June 25
Key West is like the island version of New Orleans AKA party town.
We flew into Ft Lauderdale and rented a beautiful mint green Ford Focus to drive down to Key West.  It was a nice, yet exhausting drive.  Took about 3 1/2 hours with a pit stop for lunch.  We found lunch at The Wreck and Galley Grill with Yelp on the way down.  It was the best fried fish I had all week.
We stayed at The Almond Tree Inn. It was a small place; courtyard with pool, loungers, etc. and offered breakfast and happy hour.  It suited all our needs.

This short trip was a lot about eating, drinking and relaxing.
Here’s the restaurants:
Blue Heaven for breakfast
Cuban Coffee Queen for breakfast (again…good thing it was included in the hotel) …breakfast sandwiches on a whole loaf of Cuban bread and iced coffee with coffee cubes.
Santiago’s Bodega (dinner, tapas style)
Carolina’s Cafe (right on Duval)
Key West also has tons of famous bars that we made sure to stop by like Hog’s Breath and Sloppy Joe’s.  And Key Lime Mojitos at Willy T’s.
Oh, and also the nameless bar/restaurant on the pier.  We’d walk all the way down Duval each night, hoping to catch the sunset.  Never got it, but some good pics nontheless.

We did a snorkel/dolphin tour with ECHO tours.

We stood in the line for our photo at the Southermost Point.

And drank coconut water.

Trip = success
Hopefully we’ll be back again.
