365 days later...

Portsmouth, NH
To ring in our first year of marriage we took our first trip to Portsmouth.  We drive by Portsmouth often on our way to Maine, but had yet to make a stop there.

Getting a hotel reservation was tricky.  It seemed as though everything was booked.  We ended up at The Port Inn.  It was about a mile ($8 cab ride) to downtown, very clean, and friendly.
After a long traffic-filled 3 hour drive, we headed downtown to the water. We grabbed drinks and lunch at The Riverhouse.  The food and atmosphere were awesome.
Here's us posing in front of the harbor.

We walked down to Prescott Park to check out the happenings and take in the gardens.

After checking out the hotel we came back downtown for some pre-dinner drinks.  We started at The Portsmouth Brewery for a rack of beers.

Then we went to Old Ferry Landing, right next to The River House.  They have a small bar area that was packed.  Everyone was sucking down their famous “Jimmy Juice".  It’s on the agenda for the next time.
We had a really great dinner at The Wellington House right up the street. The food was very good, and it had more formal feel than the surrounding areas.
One of the best meals of the weekend was at The Friendly Toast.  Homemade bread and an extensive menu. It was sooo good.  We’ll be back there.
Portsmouth = success. Let’s go back.
After heading home, we made sure to take take the ceremonial bite of our wedding cake.
