Charleston, SC

Pete and I used up our “buy one get one for $99" to get to Charleston for the long President’s Day weekend.  We flew out Friday night and landed in Charleston a little after 10.  From the (very small, smaller than Bradley) airport, we rented a car and navigated (with the GPS) our way to the hotel (King Charles Inn).
We woke up on Saturday and ventured out to grab some breakfast at Eli’s Table.  After breakfast we wondered down the historic streets to Battery and White Point Gardens.  After a walk back into the downtown area, we grabbed a lunchtime beer and some apps (fried mac and cheese) at Tommy Condon’s Irish Pub. Later that afternoon we did the Original Pub Tour of Charleston.  (Tour was pretty awesome. We walked from pub to pub, grabbing a beer at each, and hearing some history at the same time.)  We continued our own pub tour at The Mad River Grille (church turned restaurant).
Sunday we went out exploring in the car to Drayton Hall, walked around Market Square and the downtown area. We had a quiet dinner at Jasmine’s, right next door to the hotel.
The second annual MLK trip was another fun one.  I think we’ll do it again (somewhere new) next year.
