British Virgin Islands

Virgin Gorda & Jost Van Dyke

We’ve had this one planned out for months. Probably the most ahead-of-time-planning we have ever done.
Here’s how it went:
We flew into St. Thomas and grabbed a taxi to Charlotte Amalie. We grabbed lunch and a beer upstairs at the Petite Pump Room Bar and Restaurant before we had to board the boat to Virgin Gorda. It was a long (1 1/2 hours) and rough-seas ride.  With about 30 minutes left, it started to pour, bummer. But once we made it to VG, customs was quick, we found (hunted down) our ride to Guavaberry Spring Bay. We stayed here for the next 4 nights.

The vibe on VG was very friendly, quiet, and super laid back. Our villa at Guavaberry had a pretty good working kitchen, so we ate breakfast, packed snacks for the beach, and ate most dinners in.  We grabbed food from the local grocery store, but in a pinch we also went to the commissary at Guavaberry.
There was no reason to go out when this was our view:

We rented a car that we used to explore the island.

We spent the morning at a beach that was practically deserted. It is currently ranking as one of the nicest beaches we’ve seen.

We picked up and grabbed lunch at one of the few resorts on the island.

We hung out at Guavaberry’s beach.

While on Virgin Gorda we grabbed a boat snorkeling/touring trip where we snorkeled at three spots including The Indians and a shipwreck.

We hopped off our boat, onto a floating restaurant, Willy T.

Then, it was onto the second leg of the trip. This time, we ferried from Virgin Gorda to Tortola, then taxi’d to a different terminal, and ferried over to Jost Van Dyke.
Here’s our final ferry, which was nothing more than a beer delivering boat.
This is the paradise we landed in.

Nothing beats a good painkiller, the signature drink of the island.  We spent most days lounging on the Soggy Dollar Beach, watching the yachts come and go and dreaming about boat ownership. And then the fun walk back after a few painkillers…

We ate down the road at Foxy’s (Friday night BBQ) and Corsair.
And then our last leg of the trip.

A ferry from Jost Van Dyke to St. John (with a quick lunch stop), then St. John to St. Thomas to catch our flight.
