Seattle & Alaska, Part I

Seattle
After a VERY early morning flight (and no breakfast spots open at Bradley), we were off to Seattle.  We had a brief pit-spot (somewhere..?), and continued on our merry way to Seattle. After a bit of a rough go at the rental car spot, we got in our 2 mini vans (white and red) and 1 sedan and found our home for the next 3 days, right on the shores of Lake Washington.

Mom, Sarah, and Linda went straight for the taco truck, getting 28 tacos (Tacos El Asadero) plus some burritos. They were gone in about... 2 seconds.  It was a beautiful day by Seattle standards (we figured) so we got in Red and White and headed towards the ferry to Bainbridge Island. We had an awesome view and great ride. You didn't need even need car or people reservations, so it was a good spur-of-the-moment-nice-day decision.

We visited the small towns around the island, had a beer at Bainbridge Island Brewing, picked up some ice cream at Mora's, and hopped back on the ferry.  That night, we ate in and took in the views from the house.

Sunday we went adventuring to Mount Rainier. The weather was foggy & rainy, but it wasn't a washout, until we got to Paradise...

Monday was our last day in Seattle, so we stuck to all the "must sees".  We started by meeting Jake down at the market (Seattle Free Walking Tours). He carried a flag. (At one point Glenn carried the flag.)

He also knew people. This came in handy when Sarah wanted to catch a fish and when we wanted free samples (salmon, pickle juice shots, clam chowder & french fries).

We ate lunch at Pike Brewing, and continued on our next tourist adventure to... the Space Needle and Chihuly Gardens.

Monday night "the kids" stayed in downtown Seattle. And we couldn't resist doing Pike Place again, and buying $5 flowers!!

Tuesday morning -- off to the ship!
