Savannah, Georgia: To Go Drinks

There’s really something special about a place that can advertise “to go Sangria”.

Columbus Day Standard

A day off from school sent us back to Martha’s Vineyard again.  We stayed at a new place, that was designed to look like a boat.  It was pretty sweet, and right on the water.  Can’t go wrong there. The Tom Hutton’s joined us this time around.

Off the fairy and straight to Off Shore Ale for truffle fries, beer, and potato pizza.  In the daylight, we went to Gay Head Light, Menemsha, Edgartown (for some Newes), and sat by the water.

Mooch a Night at the Lake

Thanks to Tom and Sue, we capitalized on one last night - ski - fire - day in sun - before the end of the summer.

And it’s a good thing we did…

Truro and P-Town

After KJR and Heather’s wedding, we took off for a week at the beach.  We rented a 4 bedroom house in Truro.
We got drive on beach passes (after a missing tire situation) and spent most of our time at Race Point Beach.

Love in Cape Cod

The whole family crew headed to Dennis, MA for Mark and Ashley’s wedding, with a pit stop for some fried seafood, beachin’, and a little pool too.

Pete and I took advantage of the opportunity to make it a long weekend, and went up on
Thursday.

Portsmouth & Biddeford Pool

The start of summer.

Friday.  We hit some traffic on our way to Portsmouth, NH, but not enough to put a damper on the night.  After checking into the hotel (Hilton Garden Inn, Downtown Portsmouth) we went right to The Old Ferry Landing for a Jimmy Juice.  We’ve been waiting for one of these since our first visit to Portsmouth last year. It was a fruity concoction with a little bit of rum.
We continued our cocktail odyssey to The Portsmouth Brewery for a couple beers and apps, and then to The River House for dinner.  We ate outside under the umbrella, thankfully (there was an after dinner downpour).

We woke up Saturday and went to The Friendly Toast for breakfast. Sooo good.
The rest of the weekend we spent at the beach, hanging around.

The weather was so nice that EVERYONE went in the water.

And then, the double rainbow while waiting for a table at Federal Jack’s.

See you in August, Biddeford!

New York City

After taking a year off from what has become an annual Christmas trip to NYC, we spent an awesome day in the city. The game plan was: early morning train out of New Haven, The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City, brunch at Mesa Grill, and Union Square’s farmers market. Full day.
It ended up being a great time to go (Thanksgiving weekend) because it wasn’t crowded at all. The weather was pretty mild, so we could walk around comfortably. The Christmas Spectacular featured 3-D glasses, and a video game. So, I guess we’re old.  Mesa Grill was still amazing, with their ever-delicious island-y feeling cocktail.  Until next year…
